Paper Weight Conversion
The units of measurement for paper weight are different in the US from the rest of the world, if the stated paper weight in the listings has got you confused have a look through the following information.
For comparison and reference, average computer paper in the US is 20lb - 23lb, in the UK that same paper is 75 - 80gsm, while paper that is considered high quality is 90gsm or higher. Another comparison you may be familiar with is Filofax's paper, their white paper is 70gsm and their cotton cream is 75 - 80gsm.
The 32lb/120gsm and 28lb/105gsm paper offered here, in the shop, are both high quality. The 32lb is extremely smooth, bleed through and feather resistant, making it a favorite among fountain pen users. If you're looking for a slightly lighter weight paper though the 28lb. paper is great with most ballpoint pens, gel pens, water based markers and fineliners.
Last but certainly not least is our exquisite Tomoe River paper, it's super smooth surface was formulated especially for fountain pens. It was also designed to reduce bulk, coming in at only 52gsm it is one of the lightest weight papers available on the market yet its strength is astounding! This paper performs better in pen and ink tests than paper almost twice its weight. If you're looking to slim down your binder or just want an amazing fountain pen experience this is the paper for you!
